Old Antrim Coast
Since the nineteenth century the beautiful coast of Co. Antrim has been an attraction to tourists and photographers alike and this collection of fifty period photographs tells the story of the communities scattered along the Antrim Coast Road. Many of the photographs have come from previously unseen collections and the sights recalled include Market Day and the recovery of a German mine at Ballycastle, the Rathlin Island mailboat, McNeill’s touring charabanc at Cushendall, Jerry the tour guide at Glenariff Park, the kelp gatherers of Carnlough, and peatcutters and the RIC force (pictured in the 1860s!) at Glenarm. Other locations featured include Ballygalley, Carnlough, Cushendun, Garron Point, Knocknacarry, Parkmore and Waterfoot.
